Energetic healing for the brain is a powerful way to clear old emotional blocks so you can feel calmer, more focused, and more like yourself again. In this episode of the Thin Thinking Podcast, I invited Dr. Louise Swartswalter to share how she helps people heal at the brain and energy level—and then I volunteered as her “guinea pig” for a live session.
For over 20 years, Dr. Louise has been using a blend of naturopathy, trauma release work, biofeedback, frequency medicine, NLP, coaching, and energy work to help people go from anxious and exhausted to clear and grounded. She’s the founder of Brain Soul Success and creator of the 5-step BRAIN system, a process that helps clear trauma from the “spaces” in the brain so your mind and body can finally work together again.
In this blog, I’ll walk you through:
- What energetic healing for the brain actually is
- How trauma and emotional blocks show up as weight, anxiety, and sleep issues
- The five steps of Dr. Louise’s BRAIN system
- How frequency medicine and biofeedback fit in
- What happened when she did a live session on me—specifically around my sleep
If you’ve ever felt like, “I’m doing all the things, but something deeper is still stuck,” this is for you.
What is energetic healing for the brain?
Energetic healing for the brain is about clearing emotional and energetic “blocks” so your brain, body, and spirit can work together instead of fighting each other.
Most of us try to solve our challenges at the surface level: we tweak our food, we add a supplement, we push ourselves to “be more disciplined.” But as I often say with weight, 80% of the struggle is mental. And what Dr. Louise reminds us is that it’s not just mental—it’s also energetic.
Here’s the big idea in simple terms:
- Your brain communicates through nerve cells with tiny spaces between them called synapses.
- Neurotransmitters (like serotonin) have to “leap” that space to carry messages and help you feel calm, focused, and happy.
- When trauma, emotions, or ancestral patterns get “stuck” in those spaces, your brain can’t fire optimally.
- That’s when you may feel depressed, anxious, foggy, or like “I’m just not myself.”
In traditional medicine, this might lead to a prescription like an SSRI (a serotonin reuptake inhibitor). In energetic brain healing, the focus is on clearing the emotional and energetic clutter so your natural brain chemistry can work more smoothly.
I loved how Dr. Louise put it: when we clear those spaces between the neurons, we feel lighter, happier, less stressed, and more like our truth. That’s energetic healing at the brain level.
How did Dr. Louise discover this kind of brain healing?
Energetic brain healing wasn’t where Dr. Louise started—it was where she landed after a serious health crisis and a long journey.
She began her career as:
- A special education teacher
- Then a dyslexia therapist using multisensory programs
She was already fascinated by the brain. She watched children with severe learning challenges jump two grade levels in reading in six months when their brains were engaged in the right multi-sensory way—seeing, saying, hearing, writing, and feeling.
Then everything changed.
After the birth of her second child, she became very sick. Hormones shifted, her body crashed, and then a dentist removed all of her mercury fillings in one day. That pushed her system over the edge.
She described it as:
- Being unable to be around electricity
- Needing oxygen for three years
- Dropping down to 89 pounds
- Losing her memory to the point that she had her own phone number written on a sticky note in her wallet
She went to multiple doctors and received labels like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and MS. But she didn’t get better. So she began her own quest.
Over many years she tried:
- Acupuncture
- Naturopathy
- Chiropractic care
- Supplements and an upgraded diet
- Gratitude journaling
- Moving her family from Chicago to Taos, New Mexico for cleaner air
She even became an activist when pesticide spraying made her so sick she had to go on oxygen. She partnered with an environmental mayor and Dr. Mercola’s patients to fight pesticide spraying in Illinois—and they won.
But even with all those changes and victories, she still felt like, “I’m not me. Something is missing.”
That’s when the light bulb went on: we are not just a body, or just a brain, or just emotions.
We are:
- A brain
- A body
- A spirit
- A soul
- Emotional beings
And you cannot treat them separately and expect full healing.
So she began to combine everything—nutrition, energy work, trauma release, spiritual alignment, and brain-based tools—into one integrated system. That became her BRAIN system and the work she now calls Brain Soul Success.
What is the 5-step BRAIN system and how does it work?
The BRAIN system is a five-step process Dr. Louise created to address the body, the brain, the energy field, and the soul all at once.
Each letter stands for a specific phase:
B = Body
The body piece is the foundation. This is where we:
- Eat in a way that supports our brain and energy (whole, natural, low-chemical foods)
- Move our bodies
- Use targeted supplements when needed
This is similar to what I teach with sustainable weight release: your body needs good fuel and movement, but that alone isn’t enough. It’s the base, not the whole house.
R = Releasing
Releasing is about clearing what’s stuck—the mental chatter, emotional baggage, and trauma (including ancestral trauma).
Dr. Louise sees trauma as “stuck” not only in your nervous system but also in those spaces between nerve cells. When that space is filled with fear, betrayal, shock, or grief, your brain can’t communicate clearly.
Releasing in her system can include:
- Clearing childhood traumas
- Releasing mini-traumas you don’t even consciously remember
- Letting go of inherited fears and patterns (like a grandparent’s war trauma or family patterns of abuse or betrayal)
For many people in my Thin Thinking community, this is where we see weight show up as protection. If the original trauma of feeling unsafe, rejected, or betrayed isn’t released, the weight can feel like a shield—and the yo-yo cycle keeps repeating.
A = Align with Spirit
Aligning with spirit is about reconnecting to your higher self, however you define that—God, Source, higher power, inner wisdom. It’s not about a specific religion. It’s about remembering that healing is deeper than just “fixing a symptom.”
Spirit is always part of true healing. When you feel spiritually aligned, you’re more likely to:
- Make choices that honor your body and brain
- Listen to your intuition instead of fear
- Feel supported rather than alone
I = Integrate with Soul Purpose
Integrating is about lining up your brain frequencies with your soul’s true purpose.
Dr. Louise has noticed that people who have no sense of purpose often struggle more to heal or reach their goals. This matches what I’ve seen with weight mastery: people who connect their journey to a bigger why—being healthy for their grandkids, living their calling, serving on a deeper level—have more staying power.
When your life has meaning:
- Your daily actions make more sense
- Your healing has a context
- You’re more willing to stay the course
N = New Program
The new program step is where you reboot and rewire the brain.
This is the part that overlaps beautifully with hypnosis and the work I do. After you clear the old trauma and patterns, you can’t leave the brain empty. You need to install new beliefs, new identity, and new choices.
Dr. Louise does this with energy work and “codes”—math-based sequences that act like a universal language for the brain’s energy field. I do it with hypnotic suggestion, imagery, and subconscious reprogramming. We’re both helping people install a new operating system so the brain can run a new program instead of defaulting to the old one.
How do biofeedback and frequency medicine support brain healing?
Energetic healing for the brain can also involve tools like biofeedback and frequency medicine.
Years ago, on her own healing journey, Dr. Louise was introduced to a computer-based biofeedback system. It used straps around the forehead, wrists, and ankles to read the body’s electrical patterns and send balancing frequencies back into the system.
Over time, she:
- Used several different biofeedback devices
- Created her own program called Beautiful Balanced Brain
- Built in frequencies for neurotransmitters, brain connections, and specific brain parts
She describes what she does as bioresonance—a type of biofeedback that uses frequency to:
- Assess what’s out of balance
- Send corrective or supportive frequencies back to the body and brain
This work traces back in part to Royal Rife, who used frequency to target pathogens like viruses, bacteria, and parasites. In Dr. Louise’s practice, she might do something like:
- Scan a client and see imbalances
- Identify a parasite, emotional pattern, or physical stressor
- See supporting foods or supplements (like pumpkin seeds, garlic, etc.)
- Use specific frequencies to “zap” or shift the imbalance
Alongside these tools, she also uses intuitive energy work to clear those brain synapse spaces and rewire the brain’s energetic field. So rather than seeing the brain as just a physical organ, she sees:
- The physical brain
- The energetic field around the brain (like rings)
When those energetic “rings” are wobbly, people feel wobbly—brain fog, emotional ups and downs, feeling off. Her work is about bringing those rings back into balance so your mental and emotional life feels steadier.
How does energetic healing relate to trauma, weight, and emotional safety?
Energetic healing for the brain can be especially important when it comes to weight and emotional eating.
In my work with thousands of clients, I’ve seen again and again:
- Many weight struggles are rooted in early trauma—feeling unsafe, unseen, invalidated, or rejected.
- Weight can become a safety barrier, a protective cushion that helps people feel less vulnerable.
- When people release weight, they can suddenly feel exposed and unsafe, which can trigger old trauma and send them back to eating for protection.
Dr. Louise and I talked about how:
- Trauma can be big (abuse, loss, violence) or small but repeated (shame, criticism, rejection).
- Some people don’t remember their childhood at all before a certain age, which can signal deep unresolved trauma.
- Ancestral trauma—like relatives who survived war, concentration camps, or extreme hardship—can live in the energy field too.
If those root patterns aren’t cleared, you can:
- Do all the “right” things with food and exercise
- Lose weight
- Then feel emotionally unsafe and unconsciously regain it
From an energetic brain-healing perspective, that yo-yo pattern isn’t just “lack of willpower.” It’s your nervous system and energy field trying to protect you from pain you haven’t fully processed yet.
This is where I see a beautiful partnership between hypnosis and energetic work:
- Hypnosis helps you shift beliefs, habits, and identity at the subconscious level.
- Energetic brain work helps clear deeper trauma and ancestral patterns from your brain’s wiring and energy field.
Together, they can support not just weight release, but a deeper sense of safety in your own body.
What happened in my own BRAIN session for sleep?
In the second half of the episode, I asked Dr. Louise to demonstrate her BRAIN system on me—specifically around my sleep.
My goal was simple and very real:
I wanted to sleep through the night for six to seven hours without relying on melatonin or other sleep supplements.
Here’s a simplified version of what happened.
1. Clarifying the goal
She started with NLP-style questions to clarify:
- What I wanted: sleep through the night, 6–7 hours
- How I would feel: rested, less anxious about waking up, more dream time
- What it would change: I’d feel more holistically aligned with my life—my days are full and engaged, and I wanted my sleep to feel just as supportive
That “aligned holistically with my life” feeling became the bottom-line outcome she used to direct the session.
2. Finding the “strings” pulling me away from that goal
Dr. Louise then used muscle testing and intuitive tools to identify “strings”—past experiences or energies pulling me away from that sleep goal.
She found:
- A younger version of me at age 17, in New York, feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed, mistrustful, and insecure as my world changed
- More recent stress in my business about six months earlier, with self-sacrifice, overwhelm, anxiety, and a strong “of two minds” feeling around decisions
- Energies from clients or others who felt trapped, negative, or emotionally withholding that had attached to my field
She called some of these energies “thieves”—patterns that steal things like:
- Freedom
- Comfort to have
- Creativity
- Ease
- Confidence
It was fascinating (and a little wild!) to hear her read these patterns and feel how accurate they were in my body.
3. Clearing the energy and entities
She then cleared these patterns using:
- Statements that call out the pattern as a liar, thief, or fraud
- Commands for the energy to leave my field and go to the light
- Energy clearing phrases
- Simple physical actions (like tapping the belly button or bottom of the foot) to help reset the nervous system
At one point she even identified a manipulative energy that had attached around the time my sleep worsened. She cleared it very directly and then re-tested how important that piece was for my sleep.
Her muscle testing said that particular clearing was “103% important” for improving my sleep.
4. Installing the new program
Once the releasing was done, she moved to the N = New Program step. She had me speak a series of statements out loud, like:
- “I sleep through the night six to seven hours without supplements.”
- “I wake up rested and ready to do my morning mind work.”
- “I feel more aligned holistically with my life.”
While I said those, she used her energy “codes” and hand movements to:
- Balance the brain from front to back and left to right
- Clear trauma and shock from the field
- Reset the emotional body and chakras
- Re-align those “brain rings” around my head
We finished with a “lock-in” process where I tapped specific points and she strengthened the new program.
I can tell you: I felt lighter, clearer, and more grounded afterward. My face literally felt different, and she commented that I looked different too.
How can you start your own energetic healing journey?
If you’re curious about energetic healing for the brain, here are some gentle starting points:
- Notice your patterns without judgment.
Start by observing what triggers your stress, overeating, or insomnia. Awareness is the first form of energetic clearing. - Calm your nervous system daily.
This could be meditation, mindful walking, journaling, or hypnosis. Anything that tells your body, “You’re safe,” supports the vagus nerve and brain. - Acknowledge that trauma (big or small) might be part of your story.
It doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your brain and energy field have been trying to protect you. - Explore modalities that work at the brain + energy level.
Hypnosis, NLP, frequency medicine, EMDR, somatic work, and systems like Dr. Louise’s BRAIN process are all ways to work deeper than “just willpower.” - Stay open and grounded.
Energetic work doesn’t replace medical care or therapy, but it can be a powerful complement—especially when you’re stuck at the same plateau again and again.
A gentle next step (CTA)

FAQ: Energetic Healing, Brain Work, and Weight Loss
1. What is energetic healing for the brain in simple terms?
Energetic healing for the brain is the process of clearing emotional and energetic blocks from your brain and energy field so your mind, body, and spirit can work together. It supports better mood, focus, sleep, and behavior by helping your brain communicate more clearly.
2. Is energetic brain healing a replacement for therapy or medication?
No. Energetic brain healing is a complement, not a replacement, for medical care or therapy. Always consult your healthcare provider about medications or diagnoses. Energetic work supports your system from a different angle—by addressing trauma, emotions, and patterns in your brain and energy field.
3. How can energetic healing help with weight loss?
Many people carry extra weight as a form of protection after trauma or emotional pain. Energetic healing can help release old patterns of fear, shame, rejection, or betrayal that keep your nervous system stuck in “safety mode.” When you feel safer in your own body, it’s easier to follow through on weight loss habits without constant self-sabotage.
4. What is the BRAIN system again?
The BRAIN system is Dr. Louise’s five-step process:
- B – Body (food, movement, physical support)
- R – Releasing (clearing emotions, trauma, and ancestral patterns)
- A – Align with Spirit (bringing in your spiritual connection)
- I – Integrate with Soul Purpose (lining up with your deeper why)
- N – New Program (rewiring the brain with new patterns)
Each step supports the others for full mind-body-soul healing.
5. What is frequency medicine or bioresonance?
Frequency medicine or bioresonance uses subtle electrical or sound frequencies to assess and support your body and brain. The idea is that every cell, organ, and emotion has a frequency. When something is out of balance, targeted frequencies can help bring it back into harmony.
6. Do I have to believe in energy work for it to help?
You don’t have to fully “believe” in it, but it helps to stay open and curious. Many people feel shifts in their mood, sleep, or stress levels even if they’re initially skeptical. If something feels too out there, you can always start with more familiar tools like hypnosis, breathwork, or gentle coaching.
7. How do I know if I have ancestral trauma affecting me?
Signs can include: patterns that repeat across generations (like addiction, abuse, extreme fear, or scarcity), strong emotional reactions that feel “bigger than the situation,” or feeling like you’re carrying weight that doesn’t fully feel like your own. A trained practitioner in ancestral or energetic work can help you explore this safely.
